Siriani Huni Kuin

Siriani Huni Kuin is a distinguished Indigenous woman, musician, and spiritual leader from the Huni Kuin people of the Brazilian Amazon. As one of the first women of her community to step into the role of ceremonial guide, she carries forward the wisdom of her ancestors while opening new paths for the generations to come.

A Pioneer Among Women

Siriani has walked a courageous path, overcoming the social expectations placed on women within her community. She was the first woman in her village to play the guitar, to travel independently, and to conduct spiritual ceremonies outside her territory. Her perseverance and leadership have inspired many, showing that the feminine voice has a central place within Huni Kuin spirituality.

Guardian of Songs and Medicine

Music is at the heart of Siriani’s gift. Her voice carries the power of the huni meka — the sacred chants of the Huni Kuin. These songs are living prayers that weave healing, vision, and connection with the spirits of the forest. In her ceremonies, she works with sacred medicines,  guiding participants to reconnect with their hearts, their truth, and their life’s purpose.

Art, Culture, and Continuity

Beyond her role in ceremony, Siriani also embodies the artistry of her people. The sacred kene kuĩ designs — geometric patterns inspired by visions — are part of her cultural expression, carrying the cosmology and teachings of the Huni Kuin. Through her family and students, these traditions continue to be passed down and shared.

Bridge Between Worlds

By traveling beyond the Amazon, Siriani shares her voice and her culture with people across the world. She serves as a bridge between the Huni Kuin and the wider global community, raising awareness for the protection of the forest and the recognition of Indigenous women as keepers of wisdom. Her presence is a reminder that the healing of the Earth and the healing of humanity are inseparable.
